The San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists (SAAHJ) will host its 19th annual gala starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 17th, at the Grand Hyatt along the River Walk in downtown San Antonio.
As always, it will be a fun, celebrity-studded event that brings out prominent community leaders and media professionals for a night of camaraderie and celebration in addition to recognizing accomplished Latino role models and shining a spotlight on our youth.
While both encouraging and supporting higher education. more than 150 students have received awards for college ranging from $500 to $5,000 over the past 18 years. This year, SAAHJ will award $40,000 in scholarships to 15 students at the gala — all of it thanks to funds raised by the annual event.
This year, CNN Senior White House Correspondent Jim Acosta will be giving the keynote address in addition to receiving the Corazon de Oro Award.
San Antonio Express-News Reporter John W. Gonzalez will be honored with the Henry Guerra Lifetime Achievement Award while the immigrant legal services group RAICES will receive SAAHJ Community Service Award.
Table sponsorship levels are $7,500, $5,000, $2,500 and $1,500. Individual tickets are $125, which includes a one-year membership in SAAHJ. Members buying individual tickets get a $25 discount.
