Who we are

We are San Antonio-based journalists and communication pros, students and teachers. Our nonprofit includes more than 100 journalists, communications professionals and educators. Since 1987, our nonprofit has grown and thrived with the help of our community.

What we do

We champion diversity in San Antonio’s newsrooms, ensuring Hispanic journalists thrive through scholarships and passionate advocacy. We champion diversity in newsrooms and offer networking and learning opportunities for our members. We invest in future journalists with scholarships, mentorship and presentations for high school and college students. We host an annual gala to raise funds toward our mission and honor leaders in the industry and community.

Scholarships

The San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships for high school and college students in the San Antonio area pursuing careers in journalism or communications. Over the years, dozens of students have successfully established their journalism and communications careers with the help of our scholarship program. Our 2024 scholarship application has closed. Stay tuned for our winners.

Sponsorships and Partners

Our nonprofit sponsors film screenings, mixers, lectures and other community events. We have partnered with organizations such as the Society of Professional Journalists, San Antonio Association of Black Journalists, PRSA, American Marketing Association,  and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
