During their tenure on the SAAHJ Board for the 2013-14 year, the following members received accolades for accomplishments in their professional careers.
Vice President, Jessica Elizarrarras, received first place in the Food Writing Category of the Association of Alternative Newsmedia 2014 annual awards. Jessica is the food and nightlife editor at the San Antonio Current.
Gary Cooper, the 2013-14 SAAHJ At-Large Member, Broadcast Journalist, was awarded an Emmy at the 2013 Lone Star Emmy Awards for his work covering the explosion and fire in West, Texas while at KENS-TV in San Antonio.
During her tenure as the At-Large Member, Communications, Melissa Aguillon was received the Rising Star Award given by the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at the organization’s Small Business Awards Luncheon.
